The latest White House scandal is actually a blast from the past, and it's a juicy one. The Teapot Dome Scandal, which occurred during President Warren G. Harding's administration in the 1920s, was a huge deal back in the day.
Here's the tea: Interior Secretary Albert Fall secretly leased oil-rich lands in Wyoming and California to two of his buddies, Harry Sinclair and Edward Doheny, without competitive bidding. In return, Fall received a $100,000 interest-free "loan" from Doheny and a herd of livestock from Sinclair.
The scandal came to light in 1922, and it led to a huge investigation. Fall was eventually convicted of accepting bribes and became the first U.S. cabinet member to serve jail time for a felony committed while in office.
Fast-forward to the present, and it seems like history might be repeating itself. There have been some recent scandals involving the White House, including a controversy over the use of the Signal messaging app.
Stay tuned for more updates, and let's hope that our leaders can learn from the mistakes of the past.
That’s it,
